Encode & Export Videos for Web

These standards still apply and will so until H265 expands the range of acceptable bit rates for videos shared via the web. In a way it’s like the ‘More cars? Then build more freeways…’approach to addressing acceptable, reliable data bit rates for the streaming technologies based around them.

Essentially H265 allows for bigger files to be compressed to smaller sizes with, in a lot but not all, higher quality results than H264. Without tipping into discussion about archival and storage solutions for large of data in general.

I’m sure there’s a graph somewhere that beautifully illustrates the decreasing cost of traditional data storage methods such as optical and magnetic. Parallel is the ability of hardware, electronic devices and components that can store, on board larger amounts of data. Not just for user generated files but system architectures, applications and the like.
